BOOK 2: ARE YOU GAME?

I don’t dream of labor, darling. I just write about it.

And, after being hunched over my desk and airplane tray tables and commuter train benches for the last 2 years, I’m excited to announce that Vine Leaves Press has picked up my next collection for publication in January 2027.

When Can I Start? How to Lose a Job and Gain a Personality is a weird, gay, satirical and heartfelt memoir-in-essays that seeks to examine the uniquely American impulse to vest so much of our identity and human value in our jobs.

Written in the guise of a childhood board game, the collection mimics the superficial and futile attempts of employers to depersonalize the workplace. Here there are chapters are spaces, characters are nameless silver pieces, and going to jail means attending a two-hour seminar at the Staten Island unemployment office.

Here, one may plan and strategize, but advantage comes only at the benevolence of a pair of dice.

And, everyone gets a roll.

Come play! It’s gonna be debilitating!
