JULY LIKE A RUG
A bunch of über talents. And, then, me.
Baby’s first Slate publication.
Well, birth month has come and (nearly) gone. And, just like it is every year, I barely remember what all I did.
I recall a couple hours at the beach, a large fountain drink, and watching Jonathan Bailey running from dinosaurs and not, as I’d prefer it, up the steps to my front door.
But, despite that letdown and the ongoing domestic disturbance known as America, July managed to have some bright spots.
On 7/8 I joined some wondrous writers in the Oak Cellar at Jake’s Dilemma, for the Must Love Memoir reading series, where I got to share a bit from my WIP with a welcoming crowd who not only didn’t throw cabbage at me…they actually laughed a bit! We’ll call that one a win.
THEN, on 7/20, the good folx at Slate were kind (or foolish) enough to publish one of the pieces from my working collection, entitled “How to Choke Down a Dirty Cobb.” I’m not saying I was a bit delirious when I pitched them this, after multiple failed attempts in the past. But, I’m also not not saying that. Do with that what you will. And, when you’re done doing, you might consider reading. Especially if you love salads and tales about the downfall of a millennial golden child.
Happy chomping.
